Playing with my labrador puppy!
My friend is putting some eggs under her broody hen for me and I was wondering if one of these breeds is 'better' than the other. I think I'm getting Wyandottes because I've always wanted one and I haven't heard much about Welsummers
Your opinion?

I've had both breeds and I don't think one is particularly any better than the other. The lay rate is about the same on both birds (around 4 eggs per hen per week). The Wyandotte is usually a little more docile breed, but I have had an occasional Wyandotte that was more aggressive than any of the Welsummers I've had. The Wyandotte is probably a little prettier breed and the Welsommer, but when it comes right down to it, I would probably go with the Welsummer simple because I like the look of their chocolate eggs better than the lighter brown eggs of the Wyandotte.

Thank you for replying I will have to re-re-consider
