I have a 3 1/2 month old golden laced wyandotte.
Whenever I get a new breed I always do a lot of reading on them

One article I read (just an on line thing) says they are friendly a docile . Which I have found true. But they also said they are not lap chickens .. this I have found not true.

Mazie loves to sit on me shes great when the black flies are buzzing around and she is sitting on my shoulder she has impeccable aim for grabbing them lol

Do you find that yours actually like to sit on you or not?

My two Gold Wyandottes are more friendly than the Silver ones. I can hold them but I never tried putting them on my shoulder. My avatar is the lighter gold colored and the other is a darker gold color. They do make good mothers I read. They like to sit on the eggs if I let them which I normally do. They haven't started doing this this year yet.

I’ve heard it can vary on the type, there’s show quality then Production Wyandotte’s(bred for egg laying).I had Production silver laced Wyandotte and it was nuts.I tried spending all the time in the world to tame it (Had it from day one)and it just wouldn’t allow me to make it a pet.

Mazie my golden lace insists on sitting with me all the time.
She loves to sit on my leg and get pats.
I am usually out with them for quite awhile
I am still trying to integrate them with my other 3 so I make sure no funny business is going on

She is the most well behaved chicken
I have 3 more chickens 6 weeks I just started putting in with everyone 2 polish and a silkie and she just minds her business rather do her thing or sit in my lap.
The roos will be causing trouble trying to flirt and again she acts like nothing is going on

She doesn't boss anyone around not even the little ones

Are Wyandotte chickens more vocal than other breeds? We have six 6 day old Wyandotte chicks. One of the silvers is always calling out. She is warm, fed, and with her siblings. No pasty butt and she is very active. Tried holding her to see if this helps but right now I’m a giant predator. Any suggestions or is she just chatty? She was vocal the day we picked her up at the post office too.

She’s the one standing up while everyone else is sleeping.

I have 6 silver laced pullets and I find them to be quite the bullies. But I don’t work with them any either. Mine are just for laying.

I only have the two silver laced chicks the others are gold laced. I hope she doesn’t turn out to be a bully. Loud chatty birds are welcome not bullies. I just didn’t know if I should be doing something else or if chattiness was normal for the breed.

My 6 were reared with 6 white leghorns of the approximately same age. The white leghorns were dominate for most of the growing period, although they did not really bully the wyandottes. Since I’ve moved the 12 pullets to their final coop and run, the wyandottes have caught up in size and now dominate the leghorns, but I can’t say that every single sliver laced wyandotte of the group is a bully. There’s a couple I notice over and over again running the leghorns and it may just be their individual personalities.
