Oh no Bob, what a mess! Does that happen often?

It can happen anytime a turkey hen stuffs herself into a nest box made for chickens while there are eggs in the nest box. I will be discouraging her from now on which means it will make it even harder to find her eggs once she starts laying (if she hasn't already started). I have one other turkey hen that has actually laid an egg in the nest boxes but she can't get to them this year.

Sounds like turkeys keep you on your toes! I've never eaten turkey eggs before, other than being larger, how do they compare in taste to chicken eggs?

As with all of the larger eggs it is very easy to overcook the whites which is what can make them rubbery. Scrambling the eggs helps prevent overcooking. I find them to taste like eggs. They are superb for making custards or using them in baked goods. Many of the people that get eggs from me prefer the turkey eggs over chicken eggs.

If I ever run across some, I'll have to give them a try.

Have a good day Bob!

For those of you who like your roses and would like a rose that will withstand Wyoming winters without special care, the hardy Canadian roses do very well here. I have a number of them myself that survive our winters without any help from me. I have the Emily Carr which in my opinion is a beautiful red rose. Some of the other ones that I have are Morden Sunrise, Henry Kelsey, J. P. Connell (starts out yellow and turns to ivory as the sun hits it), John Davis and Prairie Joy.

Others that can also survive on their own are many of the wild type roses and Harison's Yellow rose and the gorgeous Persian Yellow rose.

I can highly recommend High Country Roses as a source for these roses.

I need to check those out, Bob. Thanks!! Ken loves roses.....I'll have to get the name of our very favorite from him when he gets home. I know we had it in Eastern South Dakota and it withstood winters and wind there amazingly well. We got one when we moved here, but it took 2 years of searching to find it. All I can remember is that it was a Jackson/Perkins rose, a floribunda, and it was DEFINITELY "bunda". It hasn't done too well here, but that's totally a lack of care on our part.

Edited to add: Didn't need Ken, it suddenly came to me - it was called "Singing in the Rain". I know it also has other names under other rose producers, but the first one we had was definitely Jackson/Perkins. <sigh> It's such a nice rose.

Wood's rose

These are some of mine from last year.

Thank you. They really do well without any special care for the winter. I have lots of the Wood's Rose starts if anyone wants to come dig them up.

I wish I could come dig some up. Free time is soon to be in short supply, we're getting geared up to re-open the golf course for the season and that's a full-time + job. It's probably been WAY too nice having the winter all to myself, lol.

Thank you Bob, that's nice of you to share.
