Crested Cream Legbar

You can't have him but I have a couple of cockerels you can have. Just come get them. They are also handsome boys. They are not human aggressive but they are also not pets.

I've been eyeballing one of them for chicken soup.
I wish. I cannot because we live in town. Which sucks, because one of our neighbors had a rooster for part of the summer and I loved hearing it. But I would be heartbroken if I adopted one from you had to get rid of it because of the city ordinances. We’ve been trying to find a way to have a rooster for a while now, but there just doesn’t seem to be a way around it until we move. Once we move I would definitely take one, though, they are beautiful.

Look at those cute little girls fighting over the box
There was no fighting. The two had been peacefully (if you ignore the Legbar's growling) for more than an hour. The outsider, after checking things out, chose a different nest box.

Do you happen to know, exactly, what these are?

Those appear to be the wild native sunflowers. They will tolerate a little water but come up naturally where the water is sparse. They grow wild along the road right of ways.

I have many of them in my unwatered driveway but none in the nearby watered grass except along the edges.

How neat! Are they truly native then? We had some growing in our backyard, too, which was nice to see.

I believe so but have never checked them out. They are an annual. I have tried to germinate the seeds without success but they germinate well in their xeric environment. Too much water and they don't germinate.

Mine are gone to seed mostly.
