X-Mas Tree

I put mine up, it's an old fake tree we've been using for years. . . Pre-lit.

Only this time less than 1/3 of the lights are working.

I tried and searched and searched for the missing lights or broken lights causing it, and I am just not getting very successful. If it is a dud, but look perfectly normal, how am I to know which one it is if it causes the whole string to not work?!

Would love a Christmas light specialist to help out.

Went and got a Frasier Fir yesterday. We'll decorate tomorrow when DH is home! Remember to let your tree REST before you decorate if you buy real. Gotta let the branches realx from being squished in a truck.

I'll be making the traditional tree decorating feast of Nachos and Chili. Hey, I'm half Mexican, what can I say?

Our tree is up, just not decorated yet. 7 ft Noble Fir, the only type of tree I allow in my house, if it was up to hubby we would have a douglas fir, becuase they are cheap, but IMO you just can't beat a Noble!

I seldom decorate - it's just me. Christmas has always been.... Well, until my sister died a year ago Oct 25th, she and I would rent silly movies and eat waaaay too much chocolate all day, if I had the time off from work so we could visit each other. We donated in each other's names for gifts (Best Friends, in Utah, or to Heifer International).

Last Christmas was a blur, as I was settling her "estate."

So, this year, I put lights up on one coop, a wreath on the front door, and will be decorating in front of the house with an illuminated trio of caroling chickens. (Rooster and two chicks with scarves and hymn books). Hadda buy it - from Lowes - and will set it up this weekend.

We always get real because DH grew up with nothing but fake.

2nd week of December, usually

2 years ago I started pulling a "Martha Stewart" with the tree. Now it gets put in a big planter on wheels. Much easier to decorate and vacuum around.

I went over to my neighbors tonight and stood up a 7' tree in her backyard. My wife and kids decorated it with lights and the usual "stuff". It was positioned so she could see it while watching TV. It's a long story but - in short - she's never married, never had kids, never had a serious relationship and she's in her 60's. She spent her entire life caring for her parents, as well as her sister and brother as they ALL passed from cancer.

She has always been soo nice to us, she absolutely LOVES my chickens as they remind her of when shen was young. I just felt that she needed a tree this year. After I plugged it in to her lamp post.........she cried and told me " I havent had a tree in almost 20 years"!! So that made me happy, to help someone relive those memories and hopefully put some of her misery to bed.

Plus, I got a "good job" from the wife............so that makes it worth it as well!
