X rays on lethargic hen

Okay here are the results

frac. in femur L

crop distended

heart Lungs normal

Large soft tissue structure in abdomen ovoid shaped

old fracture not healing.

soft shell eggs over lifetime likely caused by body stealing calcium from bones

Most likely cancer (also stealing calcium, causing the femur to break suddenly and not heal)

High probability of cancer of reproductive tract maybe ovarian tumor least likely probability that the soft tissue structure is an egg

😔 Well I am going to let this girl cross the rainbow bridge I think. Even if the soft tissue structure is not cancer she is obviously having a large calcium problem and healing the femur away from the coop and other chickens for weeks or months seems cruel at this point. Id really like to hold on but I think maybe it would just be selfish at this point.

Dehydration can be another cause for the yellow urates, but usually it is liver related when I have seen it. Hopefully, the thigh is not fractured because that can be difficult to splint.
Just posted the results, it is fractured and it is an old break that is not healing.

Oh, I am very sorry to hear that about your hen. I am glad that you were able to see the vet and get a diagnosis. This way, it will help in making your decision. It is hard to put one down, but you then won’t have to watch her suffer.
