Yaaaa...got my first egg!

I bought 3- 6 month old buff orpington pullets yesterday and didn't expect an egg since I figured they'd be stressed from the move...but I got 1 egg today!!!!

I don't know who layed it but here it is. A 1.8 oz medium egg

And here are my 3 little girls

Lexus and Audi:

Lexus and Audi had their backs pecked it looks like because they are missing feathers. Audi is worse because she actually has a bald spot. I have not seen any of the 3 peck at eachother so I think it was another hen/rooster where I got them from picking on them.
They are very happy to be "home" and walk up to /talk to me when I go out to see them

I hope the girls feathers grow back soon but they're quite cute even without them!

Oh! I remember the first egg I collected! I came running in from the coop screaming, an egg, an egg!!!!!! Congrats!!!!!!

We actually got another one!!! The 2nd one is 1.7 oz.


Will the eggs get bigger the older they get (since they just started laying) or will they always lay medium eggs?

No, not yet. I just took a few quick ones. We've had some really crappy weather. Lots and lots of rain so as soon as the rain stops, I'll be snapping away

Great pictures! Your girls are beautiful!!!
It looks like the two with worn backs were over-bred. The feathers will grow back as good as new!
And I LOVE their names!!!

BTW, their eggs will get bigger as they get a little older.
