Yaaaahooooo! I have a pip! Day 20, Delaware Blue Hens x 7! YIPEEEEE!

Congratulations By the way!

Whew! Finally my first cochin is out of its shell 36 hours after pip!
Sorry for the long delay in responding ranchhand, but reading your chronicles helped me stay sane, when I couldn't actually post from my webphone. It first pipped yesterday afternoon, I was scared to death the membrane would dry and it would be stuck, so then I tried to remove a tiny piece of the shell (BAD me!) and made it bleed. I disobeyed the 'HANDS OFF'! Rule. The humidity is okay still. I misted the egg about 3 times, then whoa and behold the chick popped out on the other side! (It used the back door since the front was stuck). And I need to be flogged for not leaving well enough alone! I have one other pipped, but I think I hear another peeping! I set them on a Sunday evening about this time, so I'm right on the money! I'll post pics when they're in the brooder!

YAY! 1 hatched, 1 pipped, and 4 more to go! We'll see if they're all blue cochins, or if there's some cochin/favorelle crosses in there.

I agree. Thinner shells, smaller eggs, they don't get to be tough little boogers until they hatch! They are packed so well, I can't imagine them being packed any better!

I think Sunny is due later??? 2-3 days from now?

I am NOT giving up, but I think shipping during the summer would be a disaster. Put me on top of the fall list, please?

Absolutely, you know it! Maybe some of the new babies will be laying..that will give you new blood!

Woohoo! Look at Bec's title!!!!

I don't think the last three are going to even pip, rats. I am NOT doing this until I figure out what is happening here to make them fail. I am pretty happy with the one splash and two blues who are going to the brooder this morning!

For the sake of those who don't know Bec, she sends well-packaged, high quality, viable eggs! The problem lies here, not with her!

Teddi, what's the scoop? Sunny where are you? How's your Mom?

Darn it! That stinks! Well at least you have, total, 4 blues and a splash! We will get some more to you in the fall!

Ok, well not that we are going to the brooder, I am assuming you will, of course, take pics on the way in???

Not until they've had a spit bath, to remove the grod-doodlies stuck to them! Then back to the bator to dry! Then we get to go to the brooder!

I could hear them cheeping all night. Poor babies!

I NEED a broody hen!

Allow me to say it before Opa does...... UNLESS THEY'RE ALL ROOS!

Hey Bec, that chick in your avatar? Is that a DBH? If not a splash, you might have to change the pic!
