Yahooo!!!! Day 20 w/ Blue Ameraucanas! *PIPS*

Thank you everyone!!!!!!

Last night was officially Day 21, but since they had gone in on an evening I had counted this as Day 21. OK, so confusing, but ya'll know what I'm talking about.

So I guess the other babies were right on time, but I'm leaving Egg #1 in there just in case it might appear late. It had a weird misplaced airsac, so I doubt it will hatch. It had movement when I candled it on April15th. The only movement I could see on Day 18 when I candled the last time was in egg#6. The rest were dark, filling up the shell w/ their growth.

The hatched ones are still in the incubator. Egg #5 chick should be dried off by now. I know to leave them in there until they dry, but how long do people normally leave them in the incubator? I've read a few diff things????

Thanks,
Kim

Since the majority have hatched, if they are all dry and fluffy I'd get them out.
Then you could listen to #1 and see if there's any peeping or movement.

That's my opinion...

All 5 sweet babies are now moved to the brooder. I will take pics again when they fluff a little better. They are all a little diff in coloration.

Whew! I'm so tired, but have to play catch up on what I didn't get done yesterday.

I have doubts about Egg#1, but we shall see.

Five healthy babes out of six shipped eggs is pretty doggone good, ya know? I'm impressed.
Which bator were they in?(you may've said but I've forgotten)

Did you mark the aircell on #1? If so, you could always pip it and see what's going on... If you're curious and impatient like someone else I know (me)

These eggs were set in the new TX7. It's the first time I've used it. I guess I had it running a good 6 days before I set the eggs to get the kinks out. I really like this incubator, but wish it were bigger to be able to set more eggs. I love being able to see everything. I couldn't imagine having it full. I just thought it would be a neat incubator to have, so dd could see the whole hatch. Oh, who am I kidding.....I'm the one that wanted to see everything.

I'm going to go see if egg#1 has any action going on. I didn't circle the airsac, b/c it was really weird.

Oh the things we do so that we, I mean our kids, can have a good time!

More eggs is good, but you know you can only play with so many peeps at a time. So maybe smaller hatches will make the fun last longer?
My DH would be really happy if I did several smaller hatches...

Looking forward to hearing the verdict on #1.
How many eggs did you start out with? Just the 6, right? A 100% hatch on shipped eggs would be a miracle, but you're past due for one of those after the banty trauma!!

Thanks! I had 7 shipped to me. When I candled I had 6 viable and one yolker. So far I have 5 out of the 6 hatch. I don't think the other one will hatch.

I still want bantys. I have to try to figure out what went wrong on those batches. Maybe I'd have better luck using the new incubator. Well, you know what they say.........Third time is a charm! I think that's the way it goes.

Oh yes, the thing we do for our kids or our own inner kid.

It is like having a new toy. It doesn't take much to excite me.

Staggered hatches is stressful. I think you have the right idea. Just have all your stress in one batch.

Gosh, I've been juggling bators for weeks now. It would have been easier to get all the eggs in at one time to set, but life didn't work that way. I still want a bator that holds more eggs. Oh listen to me. I want, I want, I want! LOL!!! I'm just not sure I trust the old Brower. I'll have to do another test batch w/ local eggs and make sure I don't go out of town.

I can't wait for your hatch. You are going to have some pretty babies! I'm still thinking about doing a few more.

You know, GracefulBantams still has 6 Mille fleur eggs she hasn't sold...

They sure are pretty birds!

You know, we originally wanted to hatch at the same time, but it didn't work that way. And now I'm kinda glad. By taking turns I could focus more on what you were going through. I can't imagine trying to keep up with both at the same time! I'd be dead!!

I have the Brower manual at work with me so I can get supplies on the way home. I HAVE to get it back up and running since I know there's a box of eggs on the way!!

Take some pics, I'm dying to see my new 'nieces'!!

You are so right about the timing of our hatches. It worked out better this way, so we could help each other and not be wigged out with our own.

Your such a good enabler!

I would love some Mille Fleur, but I have to try to get some bantys first for dd. She already has the Lowe's playhouse for the coop. She still has to paint it and put it together, but she hasn't been home for 3 weekends straight to have time.

Nothing w/ egg#1 still. The babies are resting from their hard break to freedom. They are so small compared to the other babies I have in the basement. It's amazing how quick they grow. I've taken some pics, so I'll download them to the computer now. I'll have to see if Photobucket will work for me now.

Oh yea, get that bator fired up. I'm still contemplating.......Hmmmmmm!!!
To hatch again or not to hatch.....that is the question! I might as well, b/c I have to build another coop anyway...............just ummmmm build it bigger................right. I will only be out of town for a few days in May for the 8th grade trip & DH can handle incubator duty.
