Some were born 3-6-17 and some 3-26-17 so they are almost 4 and 5 months old.

I was told she was a lavender orpington but she and the others don't look my original lavender orpingtons.

He's a beautiful rooster but I didn't ask for this breed, cause I don't even know what this breed is :0 Love my Swedish Flower hens, hopefully they are.....

Another picture of the spotted ones which I was told were "lavender orpingtons", the darker ones next to them are supposed to be "blue orpingtons". The one in the middle I don't have a clue what that is.

One more pic of the group with my buff orpington mix in with them.

Lavender splash? I'm not sure genetically how that color is made, but they exist. I just googled it and several pictures come up that look like her.

Okay...it definitely looks like a Lavender splash orpington. Sooooo what I'm learning from BYC is I need to buy from breeders and not the hatcheries or the feed store (which buys most of theirs from the hatcheries). I'm just not trusting I'm getting what I'm asking and paying for.

Where did you buy them? I doubt they gave it to you purposely, but if you let them know, they might be willing to compensate you. Worth a shot.

I got them from a feed store I use all the time. They are really sweet and will give you your money back if you bought a pullet and it turned out to be a roo. I'm sure they would take care of me on these, however, they are kinda caught in a catch22. They order from hatcheries (multiple ones) and so if they order lavender orpingtons and sell them as that, they don't know any different. I know their Jubilee Orpingtons were bought from a local breeder and mine looked exactly like Jubilee Orpingtons. I bought my Lavender Orpingtons a year and a half ago and so I bought more thinking I was getting more of them and then these grew up. I'm going to keep them and read up more and see if these would produce Lavender Orpingtons if bred to a Lavender Orpington Rooster. If not I'll enjoy them still. They're pretty....just knew they didn't look like my others and had no clue what they were.

Those splotchy ones are just splash. I don't see lavender involved with them.

Man oh man....this is gettin worse by the post :lau. So now I have no Lavender even involved in these. Well they're still pretty but don't think I'll be breeding them for more. I do love Orpingtons though......

It takes two copies of the lavender gene to be expressed. There is always a possibility they could carry one copy and it is sight unseen.
It would be rare though. Most breeders don't cross lavender birds with BBS birds since it is hard to keep what's what straight.
Look at a lavender bird and notice how light the color is. If your birds were lavender those splotches would not be near that dark.
