Yamato Gunkei Thread

I'm sorry I just checked and don't have any pics of my gunkeis when I had them. Just won a rare chick package on RBA hoping for some Gunkei but no such luck. Maybe someone else will have some pics.

Hi,
Just got 6 yamato gunkei from GFF. Am very excited about it. They are all doing well. Would appreciate any assistance related to feed as they mature, any common problems they may have, etc. Can't seem to find much on the breed! I may also have a couple to sell once I find out how many pullets / cockerels I have because I have limited space. I am not the most tech savvy person but will try and post some pics soon. Also have a small flock of Olandsk Dwarfs, very nice birds.

Congrats on the chicks. Hope you enjoy them and can't wait for pics.

Would love an update on your experience! I thinks these guys are so crazy looking! Like the idea of their little personalities but the exposed breast is ...interesting.

So this thread is not very active and I get it, these birds are not for everyone.
I was just given a pair that are 5 months old. People out there who have raised them have you tried incubating ? If they only lay one here and there I guess you gotta put only one egg in ? Or with other eggs one might have? That would be my question going forward, can't really collect eggs and at the end of the week put them in if there just isn't that many. Is there any supplements one can give to increase viability of the male?
Happy belated New Year to all.

Anyone out there see this post? I lost my roosters probably due to drafts here in Winter although the air was 60F. So I've got a few hens and looking for a rooster to start hatching again and get back on track. These were true Yamato Gunkie, not cross breeds.
I have a line on some from California from Thundering Hooves but nothing til Fall . Does anyone know user here Epickoshamo ?
Sold him 8 or 10 day old chicks a couple years ago but no answer on email here. Thanks.
