YANKEE OR DIXIE

Man 44%. I was raised in Alaska, went to college in Minnesota, lived in upstate New York and have been in Texas for 13 years. I think I should have scored higher in the Yankee range. I grew up saying crick, and now say creek, but I was surprised to see it was from the great lakes area. My parents were both from the west, Utah and Washington. My rural Utah relatives has a very distinct western accent, hard to describe, but very easy to hear. I guess all that moving around has changed my speech patterns

somehow i got 66% dixie

I scored 53% Dixie! This is coming from someone born and raised in Michigan! I had relatives from Missouri(st. Louis) and had family friends from the south( Kentucky & Tennesee) so that probably rubbed off alittle. Even in Mich there is a difference in the people from the lower peninsula and the upper peninsula! People from the lower half are called trolls by the yoopers from the U.P.. Once ya crossed the big Mac bridge you are in a whole different world. Smoked fish and pasties are the norm. Pasties(not what the strippers wear lol) are like a meat pie brought over from the cornish miners, alot of people from southern Mich never heard of them.

35% Yankee: born and raised in Wisconsin and then moved to Colorado when I got married.

Does anyone else say call it a Bubbler? It cracked me up when I read that it was very specific to Southern Wisconsin - that's where I grew up and that's what we always called them. My family has laughed at me for it (they've never heard it called a bubbler), now I know why.
