Yard infested with fleas!! :(

Dog and cat fleas won't like chickens, so they won't really be infested. Fortunately! You can use permethrin spray or dusting powder on chickens, and in their coop. It's better to not treat the whole yard with anything; if it kills fleas, it also kills every beneficial insect, and is bad for fish, frogs, etc.
Fleas are the pits, thought!

I go for a more environmentally friendly solution, I use sulfur it does not kill but repels them. I use the granulated as the powder washes away to fast. Also where the chickens will be dusting add DE to that dirt (make sure to get food grade DE as the crystal is deadly to everything).
Good luck!!

Dry "food grade DE" does not kill soft bodied anything, it is safe to consume, but not to breath, any dust is not good for the lung function. Do more studying,,, wet is of course not effective, but my ground is only wet when it rains.
Now the crystalline DE is deadly to everything! (and not what you would want)

Not to get in a debate AT ALL. Just to share my experiences.

Food grade DE did NOTHING for a mite infestation to me and from 4 years of reading on here it did nothing for many others either.

It does kill bees and other things that are not the target bug.

It is a dangerous waste of money.

Please do more research on it yourself before encouraging new chicken owners to use it.
Using the wrong thing can prolong and contribute to suffering. Not something BYC members want to contribute to.
