Go little roo! Make with the pretty babies. I hope any chicks you have grow the little EE / Ameraucana beards. I love my one EE and her poofy beard! She hasn't started laying yet, but I'm hoping she lays blue eggs as that's my favorite color.

I've heard that true Ameraucana's will only ever lay teal/blue eggs, so you probably have at least one EE in there, but unless you're planning on breeding them and selling Ameraucanas, I don't see why it'd matter either way.

yeah, but somthing confuses me, my EE's always layed blue/green eggs!!!

EEs are mutts with the blue egg laying gene. They can lay any color. Ameraucanas have a breed standard, a normal EE can look A LOT like an ameraucana. But if it doesn't meet the special standards, it isn't one. You can't just say "I have real ameraucanas". You need to get pure ones from a breeder (Certified or proof, possibly, someone who shows.)

Maybe your EEs were actually real Ameraucanas, while your Ameraucanas are actually EEs; trippy logic, I know. Maybe the chickens are playing mind games with us all.

Either way, you still get the pretty eggs!

I have both also. Hopefully I'll have even more AMs soon since i have Lav and Split Lavs in the bator right now.

But the breed info probably isn't what you were really looking for.

The incubating and hatching section is probably where you want to get help.

Also every month there's a hatching thread that you can join in on.

Hope you enjoy your new girls!
