Yay I have quail eggs due Wed!!! Why are they hatching today?

I have some of my own quail eggs I was testing that are due Wed, the 18th day. I just checked the humidity, kicked up a little, about 10 minutes ago. I just heard something odd and there is now a baby quail!

I was testing some eggs from the pair in my office, guess they are not only fertile, but impatient!

How many days along are they? What breed? Most quail have a range...Coturnix are 16-18. High temps can make them hatch a little early too.

Coturnix, and today would be 16 days, I thought it was just 18! It's been awhile since I hatched any of them. It sure caught me by surprise, I had just taken them out of the turner and put them in the hatcher, sat down at the computer and less than 10 minutes later one was screaming at me. I wonder if the others will be close behind, a couple were rocking.

I'm sure there will be more popping out before long! My husband tells me I have popcorn in the incubator when they're hatching.

This is the first time I've had them hatch in a real incubator! Last time they hatched in my classroom's homemade stryofoam cooler/bator and we watched them through the glass front. It WAS like watching popcorn!

As of this morning there are 4 little quail and 3 eggs left in the bator. Boy are they loud and it was sure easier to look at them through the glass of the cooler/bator! If I lift the lid on the hatcher, LG bator, they try and jump out.

Still only 4, the other three don't show any action at all.
