Yay! More Chickens!

We have just ordered our first broilers (I think they are a Cornish Rock x) and I cant wait! sorry to join the party so late, as I am sure this has been asked before....is raising them any different than raising my laying flock? Anything I should know?

HI, I have not had meat birds, but I know there are differences in feeding. I've seen lots of posts on here about that. You may want to try putting cornish x in the search function and see what you get, while you're waiting for someone with answers to see your post.

Yes read through some fo the prior postings....

in Short.

Feed 24% protein(up to 28%) for around the first 4 weeks

After 1 week only give full feed 12 hours a day(some will say different)

Switch to meatbird/gamebird grower/finisher after 4 weeks.

Have plenty of Shavings(they are poop machines). Stir daily... replace weekly(did I mention they poop a lot)

Plenty of water for them(My 14 go through 1 gallon a day at 3 weeks).
