Yay! More Chickens!

    We have just ordered our first broilers (I think they are a Cornish Rock x) and I cant wait! sorry to join the party so late, as I am sure this has been asked before....is raising them any different than raising my laying flock? Anything I should know?

    HI, I have not had meat birds, but I know there are differences in feeding. I've seen lots of posts on here about that. You may want to try putting cornish x in the search function and see what you get, while you're waiting for someone with answers to see your post. [​IMG]

    Yes read through some fo the prior postings....

    in Short.

    Feed 24% protein(up to 28%) for around the first 4 weeks

    After 1 week only give full feed 12 hours a day(some will say different)

    Switch to meatbird/gamebird grower/finisher after 4 weeks.

    Have plenty of Shavings(they are poop machines). Stir daily... replace weekly(did I mention they poop a lot)

    Plenty of water for them(My 14 go through 1 gallon a day at 3 weeks).
