YAYAY FIRST EGG!! and a problem... :(

Hello,

I'm the other half of amaurer. My question would be why is he scalping her? Even if he is feeling over-amorous, he has six hens.

I've got her separated from them I feel bad for stressing her with isolation but she's clearly not feeling well. She was standing hunched and a little bit unaware in the pen. Any idea how long it typically takes for these wounds to heal? Do I need to worry about aggression when she's returned?

Thanks for the wisdom guys.

Kelly

I know nothing about quail, but couldn't you spray her wound with blue kote? I use it on my chickens all the time when they have wounds and it keeps the others from pecking. It always works!

my bobs just went highlander on me... "there can be only one"

males and females.

def separate her, but if she was lowest on pecking order you may see some turf wars?

pretty birds, very cool recall chute.

Kelly managed to snag her without anyone escaping :))) so we've got her in a separate pen for today. Will try some neosporin this evening.

Again, remember no pain killer in the antibiotic. (No ingredients with "caine" in the name.) We use Blue Kote, also, partly because with many birds, any open wound is an invitation to pecking. It gets very ugly very fast.

Thanks. I'm looking around right now for some BlueKote locally. Being hard to find...
