Exactly one year ago I pulled a dozen fresh eggs out of my coop gave them a thorough washing and then a dip in mineral oil.

Since then they've been kept under refrigeration and turned end for end once a month.

I started eating them three months ago and so far have been quite happy with my results.

Float test, straight to the bottom didn't even take an "End up" attitude

Looks just about like a store bought egg in the pan

Interesting experiment. So you just dipped them in mineral oil and then put the coated eggs in a carton and turned them over once a month?

I read some link posted with a similar experiment comparing various preservation techniques. I think it was done by Mother Earth magazine. Any how even just in the fridge they kept for quite a long time.

Yeah a quick dip in some luke warm mineral oil. Really didn't expect them to make it a full year much less as well as they have.

I'd like to try paraffin too but honestly at this point I'm not sure there's a need to go longer.

Mostly what I'm trying to achieve is a way to stockpile eggs when my girls production is higher than my families consumption.

Wow, I have never heard of this technique before! That is so cool!

Hope you don't mind if I borrow that technique down the road??
