YEH! Ist chick hatched today from my 2nd Broody Silkie Hen!

YEH! New silkie chick hatched today from 2nd broody hen - 20th June 2010

She's got 10 eggs under her, so fingers crossed.

I just went out to see how she was doing as they were expected to hatch yesterday or today. I whistled and the chick answered so I gently felt under her wing and there it was - the cutest little yellow fuzzy butt.

I praised my hen for being such a clever girl and left her to it!

3 chicks and counting (original 2 hatched 20th April , so 2 months old now - visit my page and see my photos and videos)
I just love my silkies - they are such natural incubators!

I more chick hatched this afternoon.

2 new chicks out and 9 eggs still to go........

Surpirsed the mother hen let me take it out from under her as she's nervous and doesn't like being handled. I made it real quick, took some photos and a quick video clip and then put it straight back in the nest.

Chick pictured on its own is the 2nd, probably only a hour or two out of the shell. Really tiny, thumb sized and very wobbly. Cute.

First chick snuggled up with mother hen (second is just to the right but not really visible in the photo).

........they're hatching quicker than I can update my profile.....

....population explosion in the coop! DH panicking
