Seeing those pictures of his feet, I figured he had lived his entire life in a wire floor cage.

Curious to find out if you had any success in treating this condition. I have discovered a yellow gunky greezy stuff on my chickens.

Hi there, I realise many years have now passed, but I am wondering if you ever figured out what was causing the 'yellow crusty" stuff on your chicken? I have a sick chicken who has this, and no matter what I do it isn't getting better.

OMG. so i just noticed this on my poor silkie chicken too. her ears were totally plugged so i figured it was an ear infection so i've only been trying to treat that. but they kept getting plugged back up .so today was a nice warm day i decided to give her a body soak in epson salt and tea tree oil. her whole body was covered in this crusty yellow scabs like your pictures. i kept plucking the yellow crap off. i spent over 2 hours. my husband kept changing the buckets of warm water out for me each time with epson salt and tea tree and the poor thing just sat there in the water. she knew i was trying to help. about 3/4 of the way i notices maggots! OMG.. I was seriously freaked out there was atleast a dozen that came out of somewhere. no idea where. after i was done the bath the poor thing had many patches of skin that were raw some that werent' she was shaking from the poor bath and constant being being picked at. i can't believe she put up with it for so long. then when i had her in a towel i noticed little red mites so i grabbed the DE and covered her with it. then i read somewhere about the scaly leg mites and i think this is what it started off as. my other two chickens have the scales on them so i will have to deal with the coop and them tomorrow. but i covered her legs in olive oil and then put vaseline over top of that . lets pray she recovers.
