Yellow Crusty / Mushy Skin UPDATED with pictures last post.

Also consider bathing/soaking in a vinegar bath.

This sounds very similar to sarcoptic mange as seen in dogs.

Either way, I'm thinking you're gonna need to remove a lot of the crusty stuff which could be hiding mites and their larvae. You may consider using a flea and tick dip at half strength and dip the chickens until feathers and skin are saturated. Apply the solution around the face with a cloth. Because all 3 have the same problem, I'm thinking severe mite infestation over fungal infection. Very few fungal infections of the skin are contagious whereas mite infestations will spread rapidly to all flock members. I would treat primarily for mites and secondarily with antibiotics due to severe skin irritation.
Thank you for this info. I do know all three of these birds resided together but no other birds at the former owners has a problem which is why I was thinking skin not bugs.

I do plan to dip them in flea/tick dip tomorrow or Monday, I wanted to give them a day or two between stressing them too much. Tomorrow I'll get pictures to post as I'll have adult help handling them. All three are eating and drinking so that is a plus.

Not sure I mentioned it two of them have it over the bottom of their feet and it's like a yellow film over their feet not thick or anything just a film, some of this came off during the baths yesterday and the skin underneath was normal healthy skin.

That thing with the bottoms of their feet... the feet pads are also affected by mange (mites). I agree doing just one treatment at a time. I think that's a good idea. I also feel that whatever it is, you're gonna kill/cure it. Offer lots of higher protein treats.

Well you have more confidence then I do! I feel like I'm in over my head and won't get them well but I'm researching like crazy trying to find anything similar so I can try treatments hoping something works. I figured out what the smell is like this evening when I checked on them, all three where in the coop instead of the run area, I opened the coop side to make sure they were all alive and having them closed up like that knocked my socks off. They smell like bread when it gets old and has a bit of mold growth on it, where it gets that raw type of smell but this is like that but add in a little spoilage too.

I normally dip my birds in vinegar after a soapy dip of any sort to cut the suds but I didn't do it to these birds as I didn't want it to sting the skin but my husband suggested apple cider vinegar dip so maybe we'll do the flea/tick dip then rinse them in a acv dip.

I'm waiting till Monday to call my livestock vet to ask her sweetly to call me in a script for something to help treat them.

Currently they are getting the Poultry drench in their water and are being fed Ultra Kibble, and flax seeds like the rest of my daughters flock, though I could scramble them an egg daily to help with extra protein.

This is a most interesting thing. I have never heard of anything like this. I hope the treatment works. Will you be able to post a picture or two?
I will for sure get pictures tomorrow and post them. That way there will be some sort of answers for others who may one day encounter this. I'll also keep everyone updated on what I do to treat it and what finally works to help the birds recover.

I will also try to get some pictures. THey aren't mine so I will have to call to see if I can get to them. I think she will be happy to have some help. I will take the nystatin out and see what that does. Maybe between the two of us we can offer some ideas. I too could not find anything out there much about this.

Where are the birds your helping with located are they in FL? I'm wondering if it has something to do with the weather lately. Also what breed are the ones your helping with, I'm dealing with Silkies.
