Yellow Diarrhea Problem. Please Reply.

Sorry.......I will never tell you to use any meds on your Birds......Never seen the Bird and almost all things fall back to nutrition unless it is disease caused by outside birds, brought in etc.....

Anyways.....I am backing away from this thread and wish you a Happy New Years and best of luck with the Bird....

Cheers!

If she is a 3 or 4 that's a good sign, 'cause it means she hasn't lost too much weigh. This wiki page says Dominiques should weigh about 5 pounds, and your chart shows her at 4.6 pounds, so she's within what I think is normal. So now you must figure out what is making her poop so yellow, and this is very hard to do without the help of a veterinarian.

I have been following this thread, basically for educational purposes and I definitely do not have anywhere near the same experience as others and really just throwing some thoughts out there.

Could some of the yellow we are seeing in the poops be egg yolk?

The increase in weigh could be a backlog of eggs or EYP and a build up of fluid?

PS. Nancy112 I am sorry that you and your little girl are going through this and hope that she makes a full recovery. You are definitely in good hands and getting some good advice.

PPS. For future readers, the original poop example pic appears to have come from this thread: http://chat.allotment-garden.org/index.php?topic=17568.0 One of two that I often recommend; I may have to adjust my thinking

It did come from that site, and that's why I used to think it was normal. Then one day the feed store showed me six young birds that were very sick, and all had poop like that. Three of the six died, so I took them to UV Davis for necropsy and the necropsy found that all three had severe coccidiosis. Additionally, one of my avian vets said that foamy poop = protozoa. This is a much better poop page:

As I said before, she is 4 years old and is not laying eggs. If those were eggs we would see eggs shells in there. I think that the coccodiosis is a very good guess. If she keeps deteriorating I will beg my parents to go to a vet. Things that show she might have coccodiosis.
Pale skin
Diarrhea
weight loss
Things that show she does not have coccodiosis
she does have appetite
no blood, but she might from looking at door, but have seen no other blood
not too lethargic
regained some weight
If she is infected, then she might recover because she is older than the others. I will check on how she is doing.

It might NOT be cocci... I have some good natural options if you PM me

I'll weigh her tomorrow afternoon. Don't want to disturb her in her beauty sleep. I have a veterinarian near me and will ask for a poo examination.
