Yellow eye infection

I doubt if you could have done anything once her eye was injured. Sometimes they will be pecked in the eye, and suffer swelling and eye drainage. I haven’t seen an eye like this before. It might even be something internal that caused her eye to be like this. I have seen two of my dogs over the years have a red eye that was from an internal hemorrhage. Let us know how she gets along.

I can't find much information on this type of eye condition. Its not coryza eye stuff that is out on the web.

I plan to update her recovery.

Hello! Wondering if there are any updates? I have a very similar situation and not sure what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

So sorry about your chicken. My hen recovered completely and kept her eye. Currently her eye looks normal but she is blind in it. Otherwise she is healthy and thriving with the flock.

The treatment was 1 drop of terramycin eye drops 4 times a day until the yellow it was almost gone. Then 2 times a day until the yellow was gone for 3 days. I think it took about 2 weeks.

A vet prescribed the eye drops but I think its possible to get them online somewhere. The drops were easier then the ointment kind.

The cause of my hens eye turned out to a scratch from a raspberry thorn that got infected. It was localized in her eye ball itself.

Hope this helps and your chicken has a speedy recovery.
