I've been noticing for a few days that Jack has this really gross-looking scab on his comb that's yellow and resembles dried egg yolk. When pulled off, an indentation full of thick, sticky pus is revealed - any idea what's going on with him? He seems otherwise, very healthy, vibrant, and full of attitude.

This is the scab after removal. (sorry about my peeling skin.....it's eczema)

It appears to be a peck wound or injury since there are other black peck wounds of dried blood. I would apply some betadine or Vetericyn to the wound after cleaning the scab off. Do you have another rooster?

Ah, thank you!

I actually just cleaned it out with Vetericyn and a cotton swab. Yes, we actually have 6 other roosters; 4 bantams and 2 LF. (Jack himself is an LF) I also wouldn't put it past our hens to have done this to him since they are in charge around here.
