Yes, Wynette, I really was a clown....

I used to do mime work in college.
Harlequin-style goofing around. I liked being quiet

One job I had was riding on trolleys during Christmas. Loved blowing up invisible balloons to pass out to little kids!
Best memory: Watching one little girl hold on to her 'balloon' until she and mom got off the trolley. Then the little girl stopped and let her 'balloon' go. She stood there and watched 'it' fly up out of sight before she & mom walked away

No one understands how much work it can be doing this stuff for hours on end. I was exhausted when I got home!
And I played a raggedy-man clown for a theatrical review version of "Send in the Clowns." A ballerina clown danced around me as I crashed through (or into) imaginary doors.

wegotchickens...you hit it on the head. people don't realize that it isn't the hour that i'm at an event entertaining (or six hours...) it's the behind the scenes stuff. time and money that they can't comprehend. the maintenance of the costumes alone is a lot of work and money. the hand outs, the office time etc. etc. etc.

In reality, my grandmother's entire family is from, and still lives, in Wisconsin. That makes us practically cousins, MJ!

(Well.. at least it would if we lived in Arkansas.. but then you could also be my mother and my high school sweetheart..
