Hi! And welcome. Shade and ALOT of ventilation is key. Some coops have the upper walls of the coop hinged so you can close them in winter and open them in summer. There is hardware cloth over the opening. My coop is in Upstate New York and I don't need alot of openings. I have 4 playhouse windows and a working cupola on the coop. It is under a tree and stays pretty cool there. Good luck!

Welcome! I live in Phoenix. On the Arizona thread, in talking about heat survival, someone said that if you run out of water you are out of the chicken business. So, my main goal was to ALWAYS have lots of water available and to ALWAYS have shade that they could get to...without locking them in a building that traps the heat in. (We use open air coops mostly here.) That seems to be enough. However, there are some things you can do if you are extra worried. Put misters on (well it helps in our DRY climate), have a wet burlap cloth over an open run type area, put out frozen 2L bottles for them to snuggle up to, give frozen treats or cold melon, etc.

Thanks everyone! All the info is definitely helpful. I am thinking it wont get AZ hot ( we are in the mountains so it is cooler than other parts of TN, LOL) but all of those tips are gonna be kept on my summer list
