Yesss!! Getting some quails this saturday! :D + questions

Do I need to give you a genetic lesson tonight Robo:

A single dominant gene for yellow (which is in both Manchurian and Italian) WILL change wild type to Manchurian/Italian. That's how we get the brown on the gold...the gold just takes over.

So if I bred a white to a fawn...I'd get a completely fawn bird just with 50% white genetics? Or would I get splash? lol I'm such a newbie please pardon my ignorance

There aren't any splash in coturnix. You would probably get a brown bird split to fawn and white. It might show some white in the plumage but it shouldn't show fawn unless the brown (parent) was split to fawn already.

So it is possible to get a tuxedo fawn??

I'm not into the really serious breeding thing here but maybe I will because the supplier doesn't have any tuxedos...

So...would it be possible with my combo of 2 fawns and 3 whites? Or 1 fawn and 4 whites. I'm just not in favour of breeding out white, and searching for straw-colored birds iin a mainly deadedn grassy garden

How many generations do you think it would take? And how should I do it?
