Yikes!!!

My 12 day old Barred Rock just flew out of the 36" tall brooder! Is this normal? Sheesh, it's a good thing our warm weather is holding... out they go tomorrow. My dog almost got to her before I did. I put a cover over it for tonight.

i hope out does not mean outside as they are two young for that... yes this is normal and i just always cover my brooders... depending on where you are putting them i would leave them i the brooder for around 3 weeks...

Our daytime temp is 76-81 and nights are 55-60. And, of course, I will put the heat lamp out there for them as well. But, my dog is a bird chaser, and I cannot have them flying around my dining room. They will be in a protected area.​

At 12 days old they should have temps of no less than 85 degrees. If they have a heat lamp at all times then they should be fine. They will get chilled at 76 degrees.
