11:57pm I qualified as a new Grandpa, the incubator I built for my granddaughter is working. First chick free from shell at 11:57 last night, the next one just popped out at 9:45 this morning. My grand daughter is 5 and she got out of bed last night to see the first, I'm not sure if she has slept since.

She started 12 Amracunas and 12 Black Copper Marans . Both of the hatches have been ameracunas but a couple of the Marans have pipped.

We went in to lockdown Monday morning to be sure and not disturb the eggs but with the hatch these little guys are making a terror path around the incubator, should we worry that they are disturbibg the eggs??

    I'll keep everyone updated.

Thanks to all that have answered questions up to this point, I know I and she will have more

I know how you feel. My granddaughter is sooooo excited. She is coming to stay with me Friday night to see the new babies that are supposed to hatch that day.
