Yes, sounds like you should be getting an egg today! I WILL say, though, that I had one pullet that did this on & off for several days before her first egg, so don't get worried if you don't see one by sundown!

(I'm going to ask the moderators to move this thread to Chicken Behaviors and Egglaying, BTW).

Mine "practiced" for a while before they started laying. But I did notice they were a lot more vocal the day they laid their first egg.

Good luck!

She hasn't layed yet but she is sqauting down in her nesting box clucking and shaking a little and still panting. I havebeen away fro the last 4 days so I'm not sure how she was before this, but it would be nice after the ordeal of my dog getting hit by that car last night. She is my sweetest girl I think she is giving me the egg to make me feel better.

Aww that's so cool! I can just imagine!

Enjoy your first egg! (even if it's the tiniest egg you've ever seen)

Well, it sounds like she's getting serious.

And I'm so sorry about your dog.

Oh the dog is ok he is a little messed up in the hind leg he has broken leg stiches and a drain tube which all came with a nice vet bill, but he will be ok.

Don't worry....sometimes they do take a few days to finally lay the first time. Heck, I have an adult hen that will sit in the nest box for a few hours before laying. Hang in there!
