@LTygress.. Remember I filled my water tray (short one) last week? When do I do more, after pips? I'm just letting it dry almost all the way and then refill.

We need more mad faces.

My Pilgrim Goose source says she is only getting 1 egg every three days and she doesn't think they are viable due to the cold weather. I think she's midwest or northeast somewhere I forget. It needs to hurry up and get Spring so I can get my @#$%! eggs. insert more mad faces here.
 
Why would the cold make them not viable? Although I can see being super cautious when you're charging someone.

And maybe I'm thinking "GA" cold, not -600*F like they get in true winter places.
 
Wow, that's a lot of baby peeps to oversee! We'll be anxiously awaiting photos, and when I take the leap to Ancona duck eggs, I'll be sure to check with the new waterfowl pros! Between you, LTygress, and abmaddox, we should have most questions covered.
 
I swear I have the meanest chicks ever. I have SLWs, GLWs, EE's & Light Brahamas. All from TSC. those dang GLWs are evil. They run across the coop to bite me when I'm feeding. Maybe I'm just a chick newbie but none of the Marans I hatched were like that. Is it a hatchery thing, or am I just a newbie?

Ended up not going. I would have just spent money. I have a MOST awesome new chicken pen and coop planned out that is going to be expensive. (donations accepted) It's going to be 100' x 50' overall. Then separated into 4 quadrants with a roost right in the middle that will allow access (for us) to all four sections. And then I have 6 acres to get fenced in. I need at least a half dozen loads of gravel. I need to finish the wash bay (electrical, plumbing, siding, roll up doors) Then we need to have the county put in a water meter (stupid expensive) and run water down to the building. And that's just the stuff that's the highest on the priority list. I need more part time jobs.

And I have Mini Rex, New Zealand White, and Chinchilla/San Juans. I've thought about those Silver Foxes since they're a heritage breed, but I hear they don't tolerate the GA. heat very well with their dark coats. They are really pretty in blue though.
