I went outside and got pics. Here are my girls. I have this one

This one looks like a welsummer or a brown leghorn. If she lays dark brown eggs, she's a welsummer. If she lays white eggs, she's a brown leghorn.

And the others look like game hens, as abmaddox mentioned.

Cool, thank you. The lighter colored ones lay white eggs, but the darker one hasn't layed yet, that I know of

I loved my white leghorns when I had them. Maybe I will get more brown leghorns....

Well I think I have officially joined the Crazy Chicken People Club. I went to pick my very first chicks this morning and was all set on getting 6 Buff Orpington chicks. I came home with 4 Buffs, 2 RIRs and 2 Speckled Sussex. Is this the chicken math I keep reading about? You people are a bad influence!

Well I think I have officially joined the Crazy Chicken People Club. I went to pick my very first chicks this morning and was all set on getting 6 Buff Orpington chicks. I came home with 4 Buffs, 2 RIRs and 2 Speckled Sussex. Is this the chicken math I keep reading about? You people are a bad influence!

It's the start of chicken math, yes. But the next time you go and see chicks for sale, you'll come back with another 8.

And probably an incubator, too.

Ha thank you, but my birthday is on Thursday, that is the 6th.

Now that I have my coop and chickens in order, tomorrow is a big day. I'm donating my hair to locks of love!!!! I have been growing it out for three years!!! I hope it makes alot of people smile. Such a simple thing can make someone smile.

Alright, I just ordered the first canopy/arbor/screen room thing to start separating chickens by breed. And with the extra little coop my sister got at the dump, I'll be able to move the silkies. So I need to get a tarp to go over the dog kennel to keep chickens from flying out, and I'll move something else there (probably easter eggers). Sumatras are going in the canopy. So I'm about to start working on having all purebred chicks now!
