YO GEORGIANS! :)

Can't sleep, my 9 year old son is leaving in the morning for his first trip without me and I've almost reached basket case stage. So.... I'm up and have added water bottles to my incubator, maybe that will help regulate the temp swings. I also took the pan of water out and the humidity has dropped to a better range. Hurry up and wait lol

Ugh, I'd be near basketcase, too. I don't think ours had his first trip without us until he was 12. I was not ok ... and he was with his grandparents.

I'm bad enough when my nieces and nephews go down the road without asking (roughly half mile away). And the YOUNGEST is 11 years old.

So I can only imagine the trouble of your own child leaving at the age of 9.

I had the best experience yesterday with one of my chickens. I was rearranging the barn and looked in on the broody hen. I reached in to check for eggs and ended up just petting her. then she did what I didn't want her to do, she closed her eyes and raised up her head so I could scratch her neck!!! my fine idea of raising chickens for eggs and meat, well that's gone. Eggs yes, but I couldn't kill her now.....Her name is Sara

Now the magic fence faries really need to find our farm so that we can get Chicken Taj Mahal done. I need my "pet chickens" pen, dagnabit.

That is one of the very greatest things about having chickens! I frequently force mine to "cuddle" especially the little roo as I don't want him to be aggressive, they fuss and then snuggle in your arm, chirping happily and burying their little faces. Eyes go closed as their head and neck is stroked. The fact the like me is very important to me, most don't like being held but if i go into their coop they all want to jump on me.

Fortunately mine are good until later so I can wait for it to stop. Well, the feathered babies, anyway.

Dogs and goats need me this morning but I think we've got a bit of a lull in the rain
