YO GEORGIANS! :)

what happened to the ducks?
I'm not 100% sure. But my sister took the ducks and geese out of their pen for a little swim. She ran inside to the bathroom and when she got back out, one duck and one goose were out of the pool, on the ground, and couldn't hold their heads up. The goose's neck finally "popped" back in to place or something, but the duck passed away in her hands. I was at work when she called me about them, so I don't know what happened at all. We have a 2x10 propped up onto a metal chair to let them climb out of the pool. She thinks they jumped down, and the two injured ones hit their necks on the chair on the way down - one simply dislocating it, and the other breaking it.

Hello All.

I'm trying to motivate myself to get moving and get to the farm, but the rain is making me drag my feet. It's a good thing that I love those critters. I'm also starting to hit that half -panicked stage that happens before you go out of town and leave a bunch of critters for other people to take care of

The rain is pretty much over for most of us, now. We might get a sprinkling here or there, but that's it. The rest of the day will just be cloudy and getting cold.

Neither of which I'm looking forward to after making those calls to every TSC in the area...

They wouldn't hold on to some bulbs for you?

As fast as they have been selling out - I wouldn't trust them to be ABLE to hold them for me!

But, I called all three locations that are semi-close to me (Griffin, McDonough, and Covington) and NONE of them got bulbs in today. Their trucks arrived, and the stock got unloaded, but not a single pack of heat lamp bulbs were on any of them. The one in Griffin offered for me to buy the single heat bulbs that they tend to keep in their hardware aisle. But I need about 4 bulbs, and the ones in that aisle are about $7 each. The two-pack that they sell is only $8.99. So I didn't go for it.

Yeah, I really need the bulbs, and tonight is supposed to dip down to 32 degrees. But I'm not paying almost twice as much for a single bulb. The babies will just have to deal with their 75W incandescent bulbs tonight.

Just checking in. I'm still alive up here, but have been very busy with foster kids :)

My last dorking chick from @abmaddox1981 died on Saturday. Boo! We moved the "big kids" - fully feathered 6 week olds - up the hill to their coop/run and I am down to 10 chicks in the basement brooder.

Okay guys. I have some horrid news, some awesome news and tentatively some super awesome news.

So the horrid news first: We recently found out we can not have fowl on our property. This lot is zoned C-1 Hwy Commercial. And you have to have a minimum 3acres for livestock or fowl.

AWESOME news: @debgal is allowing us to house the feathered critters on her property until we find another solution. She's awesome for letting us do this

The tentatively awesome news: We currently rent from my grandfather and he has said IF I can find some awesomely cheap property, he will purchase it so we can buy it back from him.
But this is why I've been pretty MIA lately. :/

Sounds pretty darn good overall! You are moving to a larger track of land! Your Grandpa is a jewel!
