YO GEORGIANS! :)

And my singing incubator from hell update: (video from a few days ago but I just got it online)

Anyone had any luck changing mature hens over to a nipple waterer? Hubby made a couple but I'm scared to take out the old waterers as I haven't seen anyone using the new.

I even got down and showed/explained to them how the whole thing works. They just stood and looked at me like I was crazy!!

Mine all switched within a day. Take them and put their beak in it. Also, I put my finger on one and wiggled it. They all were curious enough to try it. No problem here with nipples.

I would have taken the eggs out ages ago, and thrown the incubator against the wall...

Quick tip though - Grab the flashlight like it's a bike handle, wrapping your hand around it with your index finger closest to the end with bulbs. Then let your hand rest on the egg to block the light from coming out between the flashlight and the egg. That will allow you to see it much easier without the escaping light "blinding" you against the dim light inside of the egg. You're also MUCH more likely to see details that way, and that will become more important as they start to fill up the egg.

I will be sure to do it that way tonight before lock down! I am giving them a few more hours of low humidity to help their air cells before kicking it up and locking down.

In other news: Taking that video wasn't easy, I stuck my husband cell phone in my bra so I could use both hands. LOL

Well, I lost my last silver laced polish chick froom McMurray last night. I noticed they were dying outside, and brought them back in, since temps were dropping to freezing again anyway. But the silver laced polish died inside the brooder last night.

I also have now lost two of my three silver-laced cochins. Problem is, the only other cochins I got were two blue pullets. If this third Silver-Laced is a pullet, I have no large-fowl cochin roo :-(

Cuckoo marans are doing okay, barred rocks are fine, even the phoenix are okay now. And the buff and white polish are doing okay too. What is it about silver-lacing though?!?

Thankfull, I still have two silver-laced wyandottes. And those were supposed to be hens regardless, because I have blue-laced red from abmaddox I am hoping to get a roo out of.

I'm sorry your chicks aren't doing well :(
