I have 20 eggs of my friends in lockdown. One is already pipping! Hatch due date is not until tomorrow night. Love, love, love this part of the hatching process! Wish me luck, These are the eggs my friend ordered from California. Four were smashed up in the box, two were early deaths and the rest are still in there! They are Golden Cuckoo Marans.
 
So, did any of you experience a lack of egg laying this week? (due to the weather, I assume) I had been getting 12-15 eggs a day, and now am only getting 8 or nine and some of those are from new pullets! I don't understand when a hen will lay for about 2 weeks and then not again for weeks. What is all that about? Can a chicken deliberately not lay eggs because they are mad? We put up a fence to keep their free ranging limited to the back woods. Since then, almost no eggs! Is it because of the weather or are they on strike?

Mine strike for a while when I move then to a new coop! They never stopped or really slowed down for winter, but when I moved them to the new coop they were just hit or miss for a while.
 
My (four) girls are killin' it this month! I was just looking at my calendar for this month, I've already gotten almost 4.5 doz!

But I DID have one day this week where I only got one egg. :)
 
And just where has @chickenrunner83 been lately? Ab you're not overworking him, are you?

Ps every time I see a Taurus now I picture it with a giant bator strapped on top. :D

carcar ... the boys have a white spot on their heads, the girls have chipmunk stripes.

flower ... we've got so many eggs going right now that I can't remember what is and isn't doing what. I'll check them again later and let you know. :)
