YO GEORGIANS! :)

I was right there with ya on the no sleep thing.. Ughhhhhh! Stupid Doberman. She doesn't freak when it rains hard (tin roof), but she does that "nasal whistle" as I call it every few seconds. Then just as you doze off she does it again. Cannot stand it. And of course I'm the ONLY one who wakes up to it. LOL

Ugh, I have weezing birds!!!! Lethargic hen who id's normally feisty. Sad. :( I'm going to have to do tylan 50 injections.... feeling intimidated by this!!

So was anything amiss when you got up this morning carcar? I find that something has always gone on when I can't sleep. Last night when I went down at dark to collect eggs (long day) the Russian Orloff coop was unlatched and the door slightly open. I didn't recall leaving it that way in the afternoon but okay, maybe I did just forget. But that was the reason I know for sure that I securely latched BOTH spring latches when I came out last night. Early this morning after helping dh hook up a trailer I went on down to tend the chickens and both latches were undone! The top one is at about 5' and the bottom one about 1' from the ground. Because of the slope my doors are never built "square" so you have to slightly lift up while pulling out on the RO door. I'll entertain the coon idea for now but if it happens again with the door open the No Trespassing signs are fair warning! If someone needs eggs desparately enough to climb a steep bank from the road heck, I could save them the trip and give them eggs. (I collect 3 times a day so none have gone missing and the counts are usual) Messing with someone's birds when no one lives near? Not cool. And could get you hurt in this backhills country.

I see you live in the Appalachian Mountains, where at? I probably missed it if you already said it

Lmao, it was just for size comparison ;) ...can't wait for everyone else to get home and see it so I can crack it and see what the yolk looks like! I'm feeding sprouts and Fermented feed, I wanna see if my efforts have made a difference other than how pretty and healthy they look. My mom's new chickens started laying yesterday but she feeds straight layer pellets, I figure I can get a side by side comparison! Neither of us has ever done the sprouting or fermented feed before this time, I am using considerably less feed than she is. Can't wait for all 11 of my girls to be laying!
