YO GEORGIANS! :)

Tonight is a frist! Our two big girls will be sleeping in the big coop tonight. They have had their own little coop for 4 months or so. They free range everyday. We have had them interacting with the little ones for about a month now and they seem to get along. Right now they are angrily pacing back in forth in front of the run door, clucking their little heads off, angry because I will not let them out. Hopefully tonight goes well.

Poor girls...wish I could help them understand.

New fodder photos:

This was the wheat. Not much germination. Not much root system. Thinking the seeds were poor quality. This seed was 8 days old

Much better germination of this barley seed. Root system is already thick. This tray is only 4 days old.

This tray is wild bird seed. Thick root system. But, this took longer to grow. Maybe 10 days. The chickens will be getting it tomorrow!

My favorite I ever saw was "barn builder chickens". (They meant "Barnevelder".)
For real? I would love to have some barn builders..knew the chickens were smart, but didn't know they were carpenters. Just added a sunroom on their home this spring, guess I should have asked them if they could have built it instead and saved me builder cost.

Make sure to watch and see if they go into coop on their own. We had to place ours in and out for several days for them to get the idea.

Labor costs being what they are I would expect a barn building chicken to quickly surpass the Ayam Cemani as the most expensive breed.

I did have to put them in the coop. They were waiting to go to their little coop. Right now they are breaking my heart. They are walking around in circles in the coop and clucking very loudly. They are very unhappy. They are chasing the other chicks off the roost. It will take them some time to get settled in but I don't like change very well and I know they don't either. I hate to see them stressed out. I think I may be too emotional over my chickens! lol
