YO GEORGIANS! :)

What do you all use to keep your water from freezing? I have the bucket system with horizontal nipples.

You can use an aquarium underwater heater inside your bucket, but you will need to plug it in somewhere. I sometimes put a heat lamp right over my water source, but it doesn't always work.....still freezes.

Question for those who have ducks. My mother Indian Runner duck always lays a huge egg. She lays it in the crate inside the coop. She carefully covers it up with pine nuggets. Today, I went to 'uncover' the egg and found 3 small duck eggs buried in there. I am sure they belong to the daughter duck (and IMO are way overdue). I check carefully everyday for the duck eggs. There is no way I missed them yesterday. And, these are small and I don't think they could possibly be the Mom's eggs. So, would a new duck layer lay 3 eggs in a row. (All at one time?) I know that a lot of times, my chickens will lay double yokers when they first start laying, but how about three separate eggs?

Don't know about nipples, read they cannot be protected from freezing.

I use a plastic fount, set on home made light in cement block. worked well last year except the way low nights low teens to low 20's would have ice only in the ring.

With fount in protected run.

I know hens slow down laying as our daylight hours are fewer and fewer, however, our EE just started laying recently and now no eggs for 3 days and she hides out in the coop most of the day (that could be bc we have too many roosters too) she is the only hen that stays in there though.

Any guesses on the breed
