YO GEORGIANS! :)

So you know how you always hear about how leading up to a roosters first crow you will hear a rooster doing a strangled battle cry? Well it's a lie. This morning at 615am a full blown crow came from my coop.

Maybe he's been practicing while you're at work. lol

I guess so. I walked outside this morning with the baby to let the dogs out and as the dogs were running across the yard a full blown cockadoodledoo came out of the coop and the girls slammed on the brakes and looked around the yard. The baby looked around like what in the world dad?

Everyone look to put February 14 on your calendars. As of now the chicken swap is moving forward. I will be making phone calls to the FFA, 4H, and Boy Scouts Monday.

You wouldn't believe me if i told you that was part of my reasoning. Also chick days should begin the following week or possibly 2 weeks later so it will give people a chance to come get their necessary equipment to set up their brooders and learn about chickens before jumping in with new chicks. I am hoping to get a few experienced people out there to talk to people about raising chicks/chickens. Also i plan to set up 2-3 brooders so people can get ideas for how to make a suitable brooder.

Sounds great! Yeah I got our first chicks last year around that time at the McDuffie County TSC. I wish there had been people there to talk to about raising chickens. I had to look everything up online and on BYC.
