Let my mama hen out with her two babies and thought I would try the 4 I pulled out of the shell. So, Mama let them all mingle for a while and then had enough of the newbies stealing food from her own babies and ran them off......so they are all back in their homes!
Just had a call from a foreigner guy who wanted me to meet him in Atlanta to sell him my 5 chicks! Ha! NO! That's like 60 miles one way from my house! And, I don't want to end up in someones trunk! I think I will pass on that one!
BTW, how much are you guys selling mixed chicks for?

Ok, we are getting close to that time when people go to TS and pick out chicks. I will post this now and then in a few weeks.
The hatcheries breed their pairs so that they are able to feather sex almost all their breeds. So these chick can be feather sexed at TS.. So, if you come across a bin of 'Straight Run' chicks, here is what you look for:
Spread their wings. The female will have two rows of feather tips. The males will have just one. It's that simple. If you want to see what I am talking about, watch this video:
Here are some more photos:
Female - Two lengths
Male chick - one length
This is only good for the 1-4 days old!
I contacted McMurray Hatchery and asked them which chicks are feather sexed: This is the list I got from them: THIS CAN ONLY BE DONE WITH HATCHERY CHICKS AS THEY HAVE BEEN BREED FOR FEATHER SEXING! I can feather sex most of my chicksfrom my original hatchery chicks, but once they have been bred over and over with other mixes, you lose that ability to feather sex them.
