YO GEORGIANS! :)

Is that the umbilicus not closed up? Like when the shell is attached and maybe the chick pulls/drags it too far thus seeming to pull out from the 'belly button'? That's what it looks like to me-I'd say give it a shot at healing if so. If the other chicks are running around already I'd just keep this one separate to keep others from picking until it heals/absorbs/dries. I use a little basket with lots of holes turned upside down over the chick needing 'alone' time so it can still be in the same brooder. I hope it does great cuz it doesn't look too bad-cute little bugger!;-)

Like this...but without the best bud sleeping on top. "I got ya bro!"

LOL. Great!! Yes, that's what it is. I didn't think it looked too bad an my gut was that time would fix it. So I'm glad you think so too! :) it's still in the hatcher as it was first out and everyone else is on the way. Just keeping it dark in there so nobody notices it. ;)

Guys I'm soooooo excited!! Paid for my d'Uccle eggs last night.. They ship Monday!! I think I'll tell hubby when he asks, "why is the post office calling me?"..

Or maybe I'll just let him figure it out.

GAM, you have room in the goat motel, right?

That's one of the reasons my barn blueprints have a 2nd story loft:) I envision a home above the barn but I think dh is under the impression that the 2nd story I want is for barn/animal stuff. I've never had a place all mine so I envision my very own dog house...I mean chicken house:-0

LOL! Right?? My DH is currently sealing/rat-proofing our separate garage.. He's excited because rats won't get into his toolbox/mower/toys anymore. I'm excited because I'm certain I can fit a brooder or two in somewhere.

Well. Finishing up my worst hatch of 2015, boo. Out of seven eggs I got three chicks, and one has the prolapsed navel.

The power went out Thursday morning for about an hour but I swear I didn't think that would hurt them, being day 20 and all.. My guess is that's what happened?

The only other thing I did different was putting a piece of paper towel under the eggs to make clean-up easier. That wouldn't have hurt, right?
