YO GEORGIANS! :)

Cliff, I just bought the Brinsea Eco Mini.. Hatches up to 10 eggs. It is the very basic one.....I was just going to use it for lockdown/hatch. I will be using it for the first time 4-7th of March. Will let you know how it works. They have an advance model for about $280, but I would rather just buy the Hova Bator Genesis 1588 again if I was going to spend that kind of money....actually, they are only $135 anyway, and I love mine.....

BTW, has anyone actually received the licenses we had to buy at TS yet? I would like to have mine ASAP.

GAM goes tomorrow Monday to pick up the eggs I bought for her from bargain..

10 Saxony eggs.
10+ Lavender Orpington eggs
6+ Lavender Ameraucana eggs
10+ Black/blue Marans
10+ Welsummers

Ok, so the ducks are for me.....

RoBO, what did you say you do for a living??? Or did you win the lottery? I can't even imagine how much all those eggs are costing! Ugh, I just ordered some mixes and they were $25 after you included shipping! And, I had to make all sorts of 'deals' with DH to be able to get them! LOL

So, has anyone ever hatched EMU eggs? Saw some on Craigslist in FL. That would be a hoot! And what about an EMU omlet!

I want one of my hens to go broody...way cheaper.

Welcome! Our son is an Eagle. He will graduate this spring. I've heard some use Countryside Organics. I think they have a seller in Savannah area. http://www.countrysideorganics.com/resellers/
Thanks for the info! Very helpful! If your son is about to graduate, then congrats! He's certainly made it through the most tempting of straying times. lol. It's GREAT to be an Eagle!! (alumni, in my case)

We have three Silkie hens, two are broody now. Everytime one of our Silkie hens gets over being broody another one starts. Ugh! At least the Silkie hens don't bite like the game hens do when you try to collect the eggs from under them. The game hens hurt! I've come out of the coop with sores from them biting me. I now wear gloves.

So.. People who are going to the swap.. Whatcha bringin'?

@katsdar.. You are welcome to the BR at any time. Do you ever travel to C'ville?

Will it happen naturally and noticeably as they get older or do I need to start leaving the eggs for a few days to allow them to build up a few?

You'll know. Sometimes they "practice" for a couple nights and then stop. But lots of times if she stays on the nest/away from the flock for three nights straight, you can give her eggs.

I had two broodies last summer. One sat through almost two whole incubations (first eggs didn't hatch so she got more).. The other wasn't fully broody and left her eggs randomly.

Sounds good. My turken is on her 13 egg and my two white show girls are both sitting on the nest daily like they want to lay. Plus I hear silkies go broody commonly so I've got that covered also.
