Poor chick story...

So I stayed home from work today because GAM was sick. I took GAMjr to school and then went to the farm to tend to critters. By the time I got around to the back pen where some chicks are living.... (little dark looking birds from carcar) it was around 9. I had a bucket of food for them that I was going to put in their feeder.... they didn't have a feeder. Apparently Robojr has just been putting the food directly in the pen. Anyway, they just jumped right into the bucket and started eating. At least 3 of them did. The 4th one just sat there next to the water thingy. It didn't look sick, it just looked like it wasn't interested in getting up. So after a bit I reached over to pick it up. I couldn't. I tugged a little before I realized its foot was stuck under the water thingy. I lifted it and then put the chick over by the bucket of food. It started eating gluttenously. But it couldn't stand up. It's foot was asleep big time. It finally recovered and was able to walk but I can only imagine the pins and needles it was experiencing.. poor chick.

On another note, carcar started them well. They are all very accepting of physical attention.

anybody have any experience with French copper marans. My dad and I are going to see someone that breeds and shows rabbits and them. Mainly for the rabbits but he said he had some culls from his show line that he is selling. And I always need another bird or two. I just see a lot of people saying that the roos are very aggressive. Is this true?

I dont care if there friendly I just dont need another one that chases my daughters around the yard. That one got sold at the swap and I ran into the people that bought the pair and they said he never gives them any problems. But it was just the kids he did not like here.

I think they can sense weakness or fear just like dogs. We've had some roosters that would attack the kids. The only problem they had was they were wrong about GAMjr.... she would pick up a stick or a pooper scooper and beat the soup out of them. It was actually funny.... when our neighbors' kid would come over to play GAMjr would pick up the pooper scooper and stand guard for her friend. She hit the rooster so hard one time I thought she'd killed him. lol
