fatsboy farm, I just googled the turkey with H1N1, apparently there have now been a few....It first made news in August 2009, in Chile, "Officials in Chile reported an outbreak of H1N1 (formerly Swine) Flu in turkeys on August 20, 2009. This is the first known case of H1N1 flu in a species besides humans and pigs. It is believed that, as with swine, the turkeys were infected by a human source."
Already pigs have also been exhibited with this as well as ferrets in October and in cats and dogs,,, The reference I found mentioned Virginia turkeys:
http://www.avma.org/public_health/influenza/new_virus/default.asp (This is a really good resource on this).
The word is "folks don't get around your animals", if you think you have the flu as we can make them very very ill.
Please be careful with folks that visit your farm if they are sick as well....
The flu has not migrated from the animals to the people, but vice versa.... as I understand the article.
But this is news to keep up with!
Others not on the list:
Happy Hatchen
Painted Gems Ranch
Triple B Poultry
