YO GEORGIANS! :)

Hey guys! Serious question here. My RIR molted back in November and I was rarely getting any eggs from her then. After she molted, she stopped laying completely. Now I have all hens so I thought she became the "Rooster" and decided not to lay for me. Until today. I think she laid her first egg in almost 5 months and it has the diameter about the size of a nickel. All my other 3 hens lay full size eggs so.....is it same to assume that is her egg and shes starting to lay again for me? And here is one of my cats, Tuffie, with nothing better to do on this gloomy rainy day here in Savannah.
It could be an oops egg from one of your other girls too. I had an EE that laid 2 eggs in a day. often one of them is an oops egg.

Hey all!

Back from vacation, and it was so much fun. The peanuts really loved Universal Studios, especially Harry Potter. Since we got back, I've been busy with yard work :)/). I finally got my roo!

He's a black Jersey Giant, named Sherlock, and the other is a Swedish Flower, named Daisy. We better start building on the new coop soon, my chicken math is adding up.

Ok, it sounds like you turned your incubator off and then waited for several days to see if anymore hatched? Is that right? Think of chickens as humans, they all don't hatch at the same time. Some hatch early and some hatch later, I think you have given up on the chicks too early. I have heard of many cases where the chicks didn't hatch until day 26 and were happy and healthy. Chicks that hatch late can be due to lower temperatures. Chicks that hatch early could be because of higher than normal temps. But, in any case, you should leave your incubator on to give those late hatchers a chance.
I'm on day 22 now and have 4 left to hatch. All 4 eggs are brown and I know they have developed but it's hard to see what else is going on. I was going to give them until Monday but after what you said...When do you usually decide to turn off the incubator?
