YO GEORGIANS! :)

Couple of rather large snapping turtles ... either mating in odd positions, dancing, or fighting. Then again, perhaps they are acting out a scene from West Side Story. Whatever they're doing, they won't be doing it in our pond for long.
Reminds me of my uncle. He was always getting snappers from the local lake, and would then raise them in a Rubbermaid garbage can until he could eat them.

I'm pretty sure Dorothy is NOT a Dorothy. These are pics I took when I got home form work last night. The power was out so I did the best I could with flashlights and a head lamp. Phone camera, too. These are pics of what appear to be (i think) very obvious dark, shiny saddle feathers peeking through. None of the other birds have this. And, her/his head still hasn't shed all of the downy fuzz yet. I posted about my doubts last week I think. I was planning to try to transport her/him to the swap so someone could take a good close look. Maybe that won't be necessary now? Behavior wise, she/he is off the chain energetic, a bit bossy sometimes bordering on aggressive, maybe. Will peck at me if I reach in there to change food & water or anything else. Sometimes actually nips me. It doesn't seem malicious, just protective(?).

Take a gander at these:

there she is on right. Dark patch coming in between tail and wings

THAT RED COMB!!! and she is always intense.

closeup:

her/his tail, always stands up taller than the other birds.

Definitely a roo, no?

I'd call it as a male just based on that comb! Gorgeous though.

I know! I was thinking the same! And thanks. I thought the same thing when I took him out to show my husband. I said, he's a gonna be a beautiful boy. And I feel spurs coming in. But, now I don't have my Golden Girls anymore.

LOL We're keeping him, though. Just have to get a new "Dorothy" and the new breeds we wanted to add in. I'm going to go with another BO. Then a Colombian Wyandotte, for sure too. And I really want a Cuckoo Marans and an Easter Egger of some sort. I may even do a White Leghorn. I just need to find them, now.

My chick has been pipped for 6-7 hours. It's trying to come out but isn't making any progress. Should I help?
