YO GEORGIANS! :)

:/ Well. I just experienced the first death of a chick. It kinda sucks. I came inside to check on the new additions around 8:45 and Vesper, my SLW had croaked. I had last looked in on them at 6. All seemed fine. I have no idea why. Glad I didn't have time to get attached yet. That would've proven disastrous.
I can understand how you feel I lost one of my RIR chicks at three days old it does suck i felt the same way and said the same thing good thing we didnt have a chance to get attached u am wishing you good luck with ya others.

Thanks. What's crazy is, I have been on watch for my little EE. She's the one who has me concerned right now. She seems like she's having trouble breathing(?). she makes a clicking sound and sometimes a sneeze. I have a bad feeling about her.

For a couple of years I had to sell straight run, then when I could tell what they were I had to sell in pairs or trios so I didn't get stuck with extra males. For the past two years folks have been asking specifically for juvie/adult males! This year I tagged the reason- more pullet only orders at the stores. Here's a funny "helper" for late Spring/Summer and Fall sales: after Spring chick madness all those folks that still believe you HAVE to have a roo to get eggs come looking for replacements due to predators or not getting a male to begin with! I'm all for helping pay the feed bill by selling but I also tell them they don't HAVE to have one. A couple of years ago I had an ad placed for 6 cockerels. Told person on the phone cockerels are males. They came to get all 6 saying they wanted really good eggs! "Um, you're not going to get ready to eat eggs from these BOYS."

I just couldn't do that to youngsters and directed them to someone with females.

It's unbelievable how dumb some people are. I use to work at a plant nursery (Pikes) and had people not know that they needed to take the plants out of the plastic containers before they put them in the ground! Really!?
