YO GEORGIANS! :)

I have a new rooster to take over my flock! Isn't he pretty?

I got them from PapaBrooder, here's his page:
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/740392/hatching-eggs-26-breeds-to-choose-from-starting-at-3-each
He has quite a few breeds available!
I think so too! Here's hoping they're all pullets. ;)

Oh yea! That's who I ordered eggs from last year! That's where Beau came from!

And, my BLRW (black version....my least favorite, but really nice hen! LOL), two of my silkies, and a bunch of others. Of course, I sold all the other ones I didn't keep. My hatch rate wasn't huge because the air sacs were kind-of scrambled because they had to come so far, but I liked what hatched! I will have to take a look at what he has now.....no, don't look! Yes, look! No, don't look! Yes, look! Sorry, my Chickenitis is acting up again! Didn't I just post that after this next set, I wasn't going to hatch anymore????? HELP ME!!!!

So I candled my eggs this morning in prep of setting them, and I only have two that are iffy, that I'm tempted to try incubating anyway.

One has a small spider crack, barely visible without candling even when I know it's there now. I didn't even see it last night.

The other has a loose air cell. I wouldn't bother, but that one is one of only six BLRW, which were what I was mainly after in this endevor.

Thoughts guys?

@Calima, I will be driving a gray Chevy pickup truck. I will have a bantam mottle roo with me and a group of cornish crosses ( I think are all pullets). Plus I will have my 2 daughters with me, and I am sure they will be running around! I cant wait to meet you on Saturday!

Speaking of hatching, my weekends hatch is already over. 14 of 16 eggs. One never pipped and one made the tiniest of pips and went no further. I opened up the pip hole this morning to see if it was alive and it was not. So 87.5%. This was the last of the eggs I got from Rocky. Only two NNs this time. One from the Marans X NN and one from the Silkie X NN.

And, I almost had a heart attack because last night I was letting the new renters watch the chicks get hatched. They left around 10pm. Later, I got up at 1am to check the progress of the hatching and noticed the other incubator was turned off! Temp was 77 degrees! Apparently one of the renters must have leaned on the switch of the power source and switched it off while they were all huddled around the other bator! Those eggs are my Lav AMs! I turned it on and candled a few this morning and they seem ok. (Although I did lose 4 already in that group....blood rings, when I candled them a few days ago) I am wanting those chicks to hatch really badly!

Tell ya what, don't look and I'll give ya some of mine, how's that sound? ;)
The black version is actually what we're trying for! It was the same price to ship 6 as a dozen though, so I bought the extras. But if they all hatch I'm gonna have way too many! I'm already at a dozen or so "keepers," and we can only have 25 here where I live, and several of the mixed eggs look really fun when I look the breeds up online! Silly me thinking I was only going to be keeping, what did I say at first? 5 hens? Yeah, about that... XD
So, really, you'd be helping me if you took some!

I have heard that some people have had success with that type of crack by putting melted candle wax over it. But, you could also run the risk of it bursting at some point and getting chicken goo all over the other eggs. About the loose air cell, can you let it sit longer? Some people don't use the turner for the first day or two when they set them for eggs that have been shaken up in the mail.

I think because it's one of the ones I didn't specifically order, I'll go ahead and call the cracked one a loss rather than risk chicken goo. That sounds nasty! I can let the loose air cell one sit for a couple of days no problem. Should I go ahead and put it in the incubator and just not turn it, or leave it out for a few days and let it be late?
